I was born in Canada. And when I was little, my parents pretty much scared me into thinking that I would starve if decided to pursue my passion for art. They insisted that I study nursing instead. But thankfully, I was rebellious enough not to listen to them. To this day, being a designer is the only career I know, and I love it.
I started out back in the day when the world thought that the CD-ROM was the future. That was short lived. Then I taught myself how to build web sites. Check out my very first web site built here… Note that my disclaimer about Netscape 2.0 will seriously date me. Actually, the entire site will seriously date me… especially the pixelated graphics, crazy animated gifs and formatted for 640×480 screens. Please don’t hold it against me. That was a very long time ago, and I swear I’ve lived and I’ve learned.
Then 1999 came, and I decided that I REALLY wanted to wake up on Christmas morning with a palm tree in my front yard. In other words, I wanted to live in a warmer climate, with no winter. So, I got my first job the United States, at a startup dot com in beautiful San Francisco, and made the big move. I have lived in California ever since, and cannot begin to describe my gratitude for all that has happened to me here. I’ve met the most amazing people over the years, and have worked for the most amazing companies since – some were start ups, others were corporate giants, but all were awesome experiences.
Seems like the older I get, the younger I feel and have since started to see age as just being a number. I took up snowboarding about 2 years ago and now really want to be a professional snowboarder when I grow up. And more recently, I’m facing the biggest fear I’ve had in my life which is the fear of water, and I’m now learning how to swim. Next, I will learn how to surf since I live in a beach town. I’m so excited.
Today, I live in Los Angeles with my awesome partner in crime, my husband. And we have a labradoodle puppy girl who is an exact reflection of me… small, but full of excessive energy, and curious about EVERYTHING.
